My name is Sharon,I live in the United States. I’m trying to locate some information about my ancestor who was born and raised in Norway. My Grandfather was born in Olso. He came to the USA in the early 1900’s. His name is Oscar Engald Myrvold. His Parents names were: Petter Arntzen and Boletta Marie Gabrielsen. Grandpa changed his name to Myrvold when he got to the states. Do you who I could contact to find out information on them? Any info you can provide will be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Sharon

  2. Tracy Myrvold Taelman says:

Hello. My name is Tracy Myrvold Taelman. My grandfather’s name is Oscar Myrvold. We thought his middle name was Ingveld, but it could be Engald. He was born in Norway, possibly the Lofoten Islands, in 1890 and came to America in the early 1900’s. He married Minnie Woods in 1920 and settled in Decatur, Illinois. They had three sons: Robert 87 (recently deceased), Mary (deceased), and William 75. Oscar died in 1983. My father, WIlliam, believes his dad changed his name to Myrvold when he arrived in the United States. He doesn’t know anything about his grandparents. He thought his grandmother’s name was Julia, but he isn’t sure. I’ve been trying to learn more about my grandfather for several years without much success. If you have any information to share, I’d greatly appreciate it.
